History and Evolution of the ELDAC Dashboard
The ELDAC Dashboard was first developed in 2019 by the ELDAC team at Flinders University to address a persistent challenge: aged care services collect end-of-life care data but lack structured ways to identify patterns, demonstrate quality, or support clinical decision-making.
An implementation trial of this Dashboard across 14 residential aged care sites demonstrated strong clinical utility. Staff found the Dashboard valuable for identifying residents requiring attention and facilitating informed conversations with families about care planning. As digital transformation accelerated across the sector and services increasingly adopted business intelligence platforms, ELDAC recognised an opportunity to align with emerging sector capability.
Following aged care reforms commencing 1 November 2024, the Dashboard was rebuilt as a Power BI model, aligning with strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards. Services can now build the Dashboard themselves using Power BI and their existing clinical data.
Case Stories from the sector
Services that participated in earlier implementations shared their experiences using the Dashboard. These case stories demonstrate how the Dashboard supported end-of-life care quality improvement in residential aged care settings.
